What we do

One Project builds the infrastructure for economic democracy.

We build the technology, mobilize the resources, and make the case, so communities have a real say in the economic decisions that shape their lives.

Across the ecosystem we support, the proof is already there:

Global — Grantee Portfolio Impact

  • $10B+ Community-controlled capital
  • 505M+ People engaged in economic democracy
  • 164M+ Acres protected and stewarded
  • 450K+ Families protected from displacement
  • 250K+ Workers trained in regenerative farming

One Project Platform

  • 450+ Participants across 6 regions and 4 languages
  • $550K+ Democratically allocated through Common
  • 74 Grantees supported

One Project works on three fronts.

We build the technology that makes democratic decision-making practical. We fund the organizations doing the on-the-ground work. And we make the case — through research and narrative — that a better-designed economy is not just possible. It is already here.

Common: technology for a new economy.

Common is a platform that makes it easy for organizations and municipalities to allocate resources together — transparently, in any language, at any scale.

Instead of a handful of people deciding, everyone affected gets a say. Common is already live in 6 regions, 4 languages, with hundreds of participants allocating hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Fund the Work to Change the Rules

Common Action Fund: One Project mobilizes resources for the organizations building the new economy. Soon we will launch the Common Action Fund: a $100M pooled fund governed through Common, where funders and field leaders will collectively direct resources to what works.

The Horizon Fund: Launched in 2025 and hosted on Common, The Horizon Fund, shows what it looks like when you fund what actually works. It puts resources directly in the hands of organizations doing the job: building shared infrastructure, strengthening digital tools, developing new governance models. Grant rounds are now closed.

Making Economic Democracy Common Sense

Research: One Project produces research that makes the case for economic democracy. We document what works, measure what matters, and show funders, policymakers, and partners why these models deserve investment.

Narrative: We tell the stories of what is already working. A better-designed economy is not just possible. It is already here. Find out more about how we work with the Press.
